Just thought I'd let you all know an update for Jake so I don't have to tell the story over and over ...
We had a 5 hour drive for a 15 minute appt.
The Orthopdaedic Doctor told us basically that it has to get worse before it gets better. He has good range of motion so far. (That surprised me cause I thought it was pretty bad and painful but she said it could get worse) She said that the bone hasn't deteriorated all the way like we had thought. It was only 50% deteriorated. So basically she said it has to deteriorate (the body absorbs the old bone) completely before the bone will begin to regrow. All of this could take up to a year to break down and then another year or two to regrow. We will be going back down to Primary Children's in 4 months so she can do another X-ray and see where he is at. They will most likely check his range of motion some more as well. They don't feel that surgery or casts are needed at this point but may need it later. They also said that we don't have to make him stop playing completely cause there isn't any hard evidence that will make it better. He knows when it hurts him and when to settle down so we'll just go with that for now.
